چکیده

In this paper we consider the information rates of faster than Nyquist (FTN) signaling schemes. We consider binary, quaternary and octal schemes that use root raised cosine pulses. Lower and upper bounds to the information rates are given. The main result is that the lower bounds are often above the information rates for standard Nyquist signaling schemes. This implies that FTN must be superior to Nyquist signaling in some cases. Test results for one coding scheme are given; these show that high throughput communication based on FTN is indeed practical.

On computing the minimum distance for faster than Nyquist signaling

Absfract -The degradation suffered when pulses satisfying the Nyquist criterion are used to transmit binary data at a rate faster than the Nyquist rate over the ideal band-limited (brick-wall) channel is studied. The minimum distance between received signals is used as a performance criterion. It is well-known that, when Nyquist pulses (i.e., pulses satisfying the Nyquist criterion) are sent at...

An Efficient Turbo Equalization for Faster than Nyquist Signal

In this paper, we analyzed efficient decoding scheme with faster than Nyquist (FTN) signaling that is transmission method faster than Nyquist theory and increase the throughput. We proposed BCJR equalization model to minimize inter symbol interference when faster than Nyquist signal is transmitted. The presented model utilized interference as branch information and iteratively exchange probabil...

Improving OFDM: Multistream Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling

Mazo’s concept of Faster Than Nyquist signaling is extended to pulse trains that modulate adjacent subcarriers, in a manner similar to orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) transmission. Despite pulses that are faster than the Nyquist limit and subcarriers that significantly overlap, the transmission system achieves the isolated pulse error performance. Systems with at least twice the ...

Faster - Than - Nyquist Signaling In a bandwidth

| In this paper, we survey faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling, an extension of ordinary linear modulation in which the usual data bearing pulses are simply sent faster, and consequently are no longer orthogonal. Far from a disadvantage, this innovation can transmit up to twice the bits as ordinary modulation at the same bit energy, spectrum, and error rate. The method is directly applicable to...
